    The Suez Canal Authority clarifies the fact of contracting with an Israeli company to manage it

    revealed, on Friday, the fact that the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority had contracted with an Israeli company to manage its services, in denial, and its decision to take legal action against the promoters of this news.

    A statement by the authority stated that it denied this news “in response to the information that was circulated on some anonymous personal accounts on the communication sites regarding the channel’s contract with a company to manage its services through a 99-year concession contract,” according to the Anadolu Agency. The Suez Canal statement came the day after an alleged contract was circulated on social media platforms, whose publishers said it dates back to a contract between the government and an Israeli company to manage the channel’s services for 99 years, and the controversy increased after the a A a Journalist confirmed it. Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, head of the commission, said in the statement, “These rumors are totally and utterly untrue.”

    He stressed, “Egypt’s absolute sovereignty, in both its political and economic aspects, in managing, operating and maintaining the navigational facility of the Suez Canal.”

    He stressed that “all contracts entered into by the authority cannot in any way prejudice Egyptian sovereignty over the canal and all its facilities, which are constitutionally protected.” And he stressed that “all necessary legal measures will be taken by the concerned authorities against these pages.” He also warned against “creating confusion and undermining the status of the economic channel in the local and international circles.” And Thursday, A journalist said via (Twitter): “As I told you earlier, the Suez Canal concession contract is 99 years for an Israeli company,” presenting a picture as a document from the alleged contract.

    Cohen had raised, on his Twitter account, on January 11, Egyptian anger against him, following a request that Egypt sells the canal to Israel in return for paying its foreign debts.
