This is a funny thing – trends: a few years ago we denied down jackets and in the cold we strove to sneak out of the house in a windbreaker, and now we are warming up with might and main. Hats, bonnets, mittens – all heavy artillery is used. But recently we have a new pet that warms as well as wool, but is not made of it.
What is your biggest complaint about winter looks? Let’s guess: the feeling of being turned into a cabbage. It annoys us too, so we are always trying to find that mythical balance between the thickness of a sweater, scarf and down jacket with a coat. Soft woolen fabrics or any other pliable materials are ideal for this: it’s more pleasant, agree, when the scarf lies softly on the shoulders, and the sleeves do not look like sausages because of the jersey stuffed there.
But lately we have looked closely at one “inflated” element, which we are ready to forgive the extra volume. Guess who we are? About quilted scarves, of course!
You just couldn’t help but see them – lately they’ve been everywhere. At every Fashion Week – be it in Paris, New York or Copenhagen – the fashionista appeared in precisely such “dutiks”, reminding that this accessory has become the purchase of the season. Why are they convenient? Firstly, the perfect combination with down jackets and jackets. Together with outerwear, an inflated scarf becomes a single ensemble, and you don’t need to make any special efforts – just choose an accessory that matches the tone that is already in the outfit, not necessarily the color of the outerwear.
Secondly, “dutiks” protect the neck and head from the cold – they work in the same way as down jackets. By the way, some fashionistas wear quilted scarves just with sweaters and even light long sleeves: in the spring, when the temperature rises and the cool wind has not subsided yet, this is quite a reasonable option. Unlike wool scarves, nylon scarves are much easier to combine with spring clothes. And therefore they will serve you not one, not two or even three months – but much longer!
