Under normal conditions, Libya can produce 1.4 million barrels of crude oil
The Minister of Oil and Gas of Libya, Mohamed Ahmed Oun, stated that the daily production of oil in Libya has increased to one million and 25,000 barrels.
Oun and the president of the National Oil Company of Libya (NOC) Ferhat bin Kidara spoke for Anatolia.
Ten days
Bin Kidara and Oun said that daily oil production, which averaged 870,000 barrels a week ago, has increased to 1.25 million barrels.
Oun reminded that before the reduction in the first quarter of 2022, daily production was 1.3 million barrels.
- We expect that within ten days the daily production of oil will be increased to 1.2 million barrels – said Oun.
Closed plants
Libyan tribal groups have shut down most of Libya’s oil facilities in the south and central parts of the country since April 17 to pressure Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh to hand over power to the parliament-appointed government of Fathi Bashagha.
Libya has the largest reserves of crude oil in Africa, but the production and export of this energy product have been affected by the conflicts that have lasted in that country for 11 years.
Under normal conditions, Libya can produce 1.4 million barrels of crude oil, and the plan is to increase production to 1.6 million barrels by 2025.
