    Islandspostur made a profit after a government contribution

    Islandspostur made a profit of ISK 256 million last year, compared to a profit of ISK 1 million in 2020. Last year, the company received a contribution of ISK 560 million from the Regional Development Institute for the operation of universal service.

    Operating income amounted to just over ISK 7,453 million and decreased slightly from the previous year. The company’s equity was around ISK 3.5 billion at the end of the year.

    The company’s annual accounts, published today, do not provide information on the breakdown of operating segments, ie. the results of postal services (universal service) and the results of competitive operations outside postal services, as has been done in recent years. As was reported in Morgunbladid today, the loss of universal service last ten years by ISK 6.6 billion.

    The number of full-time equivalent positions decreased by 7% between years, from 557 at the end of 2021, compared with 601 the year before. Interest-bearing debt decreased from ISK 1,635 million to ISK 1,180 million between years.
