A new film about the most famous secret agent 007 has started playing in cinemas. “There is no time for death” is the 25th James Bond film and the fifth and last in which it is played by Daniel Craig, and the question that everyone eagerly awaits the answer is – who will succeed him.
Craig himself spoke about who he sees as his heir, especially touching on the speculation that he will be succeeded by a woman. He said that for women there should be better roles and roles as good as those of James Bond, but that the most famous secret agent should remain a man.
The film’s producer Barbara Broccoli agrees with him, who also stressed that she believes Bond will always be a male character.
I hope there will be many, many films made with women, for women, about women, but I don’t think we have to take a male character and let a woman act it. So, yes, I see James Bond as a man, she explained her position and added that the decision on the successor will be known next year.
But while an official decision is awaited, there are a number of names mentioned as possible successors to Daniel Craig. We recently singled out 16 potential candidates who are part of loud and less loud whispers, and in our poll we asked you who you think the new James Bond should be.
The winner was actor Tom Hardy (at the time of writing he won 658 out of a total of 2542 votes). In second place was actor Idris Elba with 445 votes, and third was Henry Cavill with 328 votes.
The only thing left for us now is to wait for the decision of those who make it and see if we were on the right track.
