Until recently, users of Apple’s famous mobile device who opted for the new Samsung were given the option to switch conversations within WhatsApp from one device to another.
WhatsApp has added a new option that will make it easier for iPhone users to switch to Samsung’s platform. Samsung announced this option as part of the recent Unpacked – a solution that makes it much easier to switch conversations between devices. If so far users have stored conversations on iCloud, they could not find themselves on the platform used by Android, which is Google Drive.
In other words, switching was virtually impossible. The situation has changed, but it is still not perfect. For starters, you’ll switch conversations, your picture, all your photos, and settings. What will stay on the old phone is the browsing history and your old name. Furthermore, you will only be able to switch conversations if the Samsung you are moving to is switched to factory settings, writes Verge.
As for the minimum requirements, the old iPhone will have to have WhatsApp 188.8.131.52 or later, while the new Samsung will have to have version 184.108.40.206 or later. The switching itself is done via a USB-C cable that has a Lightning port.
Here’s what you need to do to switch conversations from iPhone to Samsung:
Turn on Samsung and connect it with a cable to the iPhone when the program tells you to.
Follow the instructions of the Samsung Smart Switch
When asked, scan the QR code displayed on your new Samsung using an iPhone camera.
Then press Start on iPhone or wait for the process to complete
Keep setting up your new Samsung device
When you get to the Home screen, open WhatsApp and login to it with the same number you used on your old phone.
Press the Import key and wait.
Complete activation. Your WhatsApp conversations should be available.
Lastly, we note that all conversations and data on the iPhone will still remain there, which means that if you need to do something else, everything is available on your old device.
