He returns after an 11-year hiatus
Former sex-symbol Sofia Loren (86) spoke about her enviable career on the occasion of returning to acting after an 11-year break.
In an interview with the Guardian, the Oscar winner admitted that she often doubted herself and that she often faltered. Sofia honestly recounted her experiences during her acting career as viewers will soon be able to enjoy watching her in Netflix’s film “The Life Ahead” directed by her son Eduardo Ponti.
Sofia revealed how she comforted herself in moments when she felt lost and bad.
- Sometimes I felt that way. I used to say to myself, “Shut up. Be strong. Just keep going and try. Sometimes you make mistakes and sometimes you win!” Said Sofia.
She admitted she made some mistakes, but still won.
In the film, Loren played Mrs. Rosa, a Holocaust survivor who helps raise the children of prostitutes. The actress commented on the similarity of the new role with the previous one.
- Things don’t change much. The body changes. Mind not – she pointed out.
By the way, Sofia, who was born as Sofia Villani Scicolone, is one of the greatest icons of the golden age of Hollywood, and she started her career in 1950.
She won an Oscar for Best Leading Actress for her role as Cesira in the 1960 war drama “Two Women,” and it was the first time she had been awarded a role in a foreign film.
At the peak of her career, Sofia was known as a great seductress who broke the hearts of many men. The information has leaked to the public about an unsuccessful relationship with Peter Sellers (Sellers) with whom she recorded a music album.
Peter left his wife due to Sofiyomon’s insanity, and she eventually turned him down.
She also had an affair with fellow actor Cary Grant, with whom she starred in the film “Houseboat,” for which his then-wife wrote the screenplay.
Although they enjoyed a passionate romance for two years, Kerry and Sofia broke up bitterly with the relationship and remained in a permanently bad relationship. Reportedly, Kerry even wanted to reconcile with his mistress, but Sofia sent him a clear message by marrying Carlo Ponti (Carlo).
They had two sons together, and she remained a widow in 2007 when Ponti passed away due to lung complications.
Throughout her career, there has been public interest in her intimate photographs. Because of that, in 1999, Loren filed a lawsuit against 79 pages for adult films for publishing her nude photos.
