Sony Launches Live-Action Series of Marvel Character “Silk”

The project is based on the heroine of the Spider-Man universe and further details of the casting are not yet known.

Via Variety report that Sony Pictures Television has begun the development of a live-action series based on one of the Marvel characters. According to the media, the company will create a television spin-off based on the Marvel heroine, ‘ Silk ‘, a series that will feature a script by Lauren Moon (‘Good Trouble’, ‘Atypical’), who like the character of Spider-Man is Korean-American.

‘ Silk ‘ first appeared in “The Amazing Spider-Man” Vol. 3, is created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos. It’s about a high school student named Cindy Moon, who was bitten by the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker at a public exhibition on handling nuclear materials. The spider died shortly after, but Moon gained the same powers as Parker and became known 13 years after Peter became Spider-Man.

Pending the casting announcement, the character previously appeared in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, being played by Tiffany Espensen. It must be said that in 2018 Sony announced that it would develop a film based on the same character, although as of today we do not know what state this project will be in.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are executive producers of the series through its seal Lord Miller, along with the executive of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Amy Pascal. At the moment there is no transmission service attached to the project, although the media reports that Amazon would already be negotiating to acquire this Marvel series based on one of the characters owned by Sony.
